Movie Review| Love Hard
Summary
Natalie has had the worst luck online dating. Every match has turned out to be a dud and she eventually chronicles each disaster into articles in her very own column. One day she matches with Josh, an outdoorsy, funny and handsome guy from New York. The conversation flows between them over a couple of weeks and he mentions he would love to see her for Christmas. Emboldened by their strong connection, Natalie decides to fly from LA to go surprise Josh for Christmas. But what she finds is that she has been cat-fished! In a happy coincidence, she ends up meeting the real guy from the photo and Josh agrees to help her win his affection as retribution for lying to her. What could possibly go wrong?
My Thoughts
Online dating has become a necessary evil to meet someone in today’s times especially because of COVID-19. This movie capitalizes on the worst case scenario of online dating-meeting someone and finding out they aren’t who they claim to be! There were some cute moments in the film but suspension of belief was necessary to fully immerse in the story. The ending also involved forgetfulness of one of the plot points. It wasn’t a major point but still had me scratching my head in confusion. What I most took away from this movie was that love doesn’t have to be perfect, just honest. I would recommend Love Hard as a lighthearted romantic comedy to enjoy this season.
