Book Review| Munro by Kresley Cole

For fans of The Immortals After Dark series like me, this next installment has been long awaited! Unfortunately because it has been so long between this novel and the last one, I didn’t really remember the finer details of the storyline. Luckily, I could enjoy the story regardless. But I will say it could be helpful to reread at least Shadow’s Claim and MacRieve to better follow Munro’s story arc as suggested by the author. I didn’t reread them because I couldn’t wait to dive straight into this story!

What’s It About?

Munro MacRieve suffers torture at the hands of the evil warlocks of Quondam who hope to make him their mindless tool. However, his will is strong and the warlocks are driven to use the one thing that can make him loose his control, a mortal huntress named Kereny “Ren” Codrina, his mate taken from a different time.

But just as soon as Munro has found her, she is tragically lost to him. This leads him on a desperate time-traveling journey to reunite with his mate and do anything in his power, even selling his soul to an evil sorceress, just to make Kereny undying. The only problem in his plan? Kereny is a recently married immortal hunter that doesn’t see a future where she is fated to a werewolf. Can Munro use his powers of seduction to convince her otherwise?

My Thoughts

I didn’t get as lost in this story as I had on Cole’s other novels but it could just be because I wanted to make this story last longer. The romance scenes were scorching with the action that keeps her stories exciting at the fore. This book departed from her other ones by expanding more into the future of the couple which I definitely enjoyed. However, the ending made me have a somewhat traumatic flashback of where I was before awaiting Munro. Why must Cole leave us with such tantalizing finishes?! Here’s hoping the next installment comes quicker than Munro did.

Overall Impression

We waited so long for this release but the wait was definitely worth it. It felt good to reenter the world of Immortals After Dark again and all the elements that made me such a fan were present in full force. I can’t wait to continue on in the series and see what awaits our beloved Vertas next.
