Book Review| A Touch of Malice by Scarlett St. Clair
This series went by in a blur for me. I became so invested in the story of Hades and Persephone along with the mounting action and danger in the storyline that I couldn’t stop!
What’s it About?
Hades and Persephone are newly engaged however her mother Demeter is less than pleased. In contempt, Demeter summons a blizzard that threatens all of New Greece and refuses to lift it until the engagement is called off. The Olympians intervene but divided. Do they allow the marriage and risk Demeter’s continued wrath or refuse to honor the union and go to war with the God of the Dead?
My Thoughts
This third installment in the series was full of conflict and rising tension. The classic Gods of old are present in their glory and a new threat looms on the horizon. It started off a little confusing for me but made sense as the story continued. There is an interesting dynamic of questioning power throughout the novel that had me thinking long after the last page. The love scenes remain intact despite the increase in action however there is more vulnerability in this book. It ended with a cliff hanger so if you are one of those people who struggle with having to wait for the next book, you may want to hold off. All together this book flows along seamlessly and every action has a place in the overall storyline.
Overall Impression
This book did not disappoint. St. Clair is a master at pulling you into her world through her plot and characters. Some elements mentioned in the story could be triggering for some readers so proceed with caution. However, they aren’t major points of the story. Altogether this is an exciting series and I can’t wait to see what happens next!
