Book Review| City of Darkness by Karina Halle
Rating 3.5 out of 5 stars
After the last book, I was wondering what was in store for our protagonists. Things were looking bleak and I couldn’t wait to see how they would find their way out. This book was full of building the tension for the final show down.

What’s It About?
Who knew offering to take the place of her imprisoned father would lead Hanna to love? Falling for and marrying the God of Death, Tuoni, has made her become the new Goddess of Death. This unfortunately lands her in the cross hairs of Death’s enemies. The most formidable being his half demon, ex-wife Louhi. A wicked woman looking to raise the Old Gods and a skeleton army for her bidding. Hanna and Death must find a way to fight back and keep order in the underworld of Tuonela. Otherwise, all will be lost.
My Thoughts
The action ebbed and flowed in this book. I loved that we got to see characters flipped in their respective positions. The dynamic felt like a balanced way to get them to better understand each other. Despite the changes, they still stayed true to their essence as they began to grow as a couple.
Halle created an atmosphere that felt like storm clouds in a building tempest. There are many questions waiting to be answered. But small tasteful revelations woven throughout keeps you locked in. So much is pending toward this latest installment. I can’t wait to read the finale!
Overall Impression
