Art| Second Sculpting Piece
For my second piece we had a male model in position like Adam in The Creation of Adam by Michelangelo. I saw him and was inspired to do something a little different. I wanted to make him a pharaoh on his barge holding fruit. I thought it would be cool to make it take an Ancient Egyptian feel.
I was intimidated sculpting the male figure. It was harder than my first piece with a woman model because I wasn’t as intimately acquainted with the male shape. It started off rough at first and definitely did not have the proportions right for the head but by being willing to hack it off and start over, I was able to make it look better.

The fruit he was holding became a pomegranate since they are featured more in Egyptian art and were sometimes given on sacrificial altars. I had a hard time figuring out what headdress to give him and ended up choosing the more easily recognizable one. Adding the broad collar necklace details proved challenging but I was able to make it work with help from my instructor.
I feel like there is definitely room for improvement but I am proud of the final product. I like the colors I ended up choosing and I may try something updated in the future once I have more practice.
