What’s It About?

Thrown into the public eye as Hades’ lover, Persephone scrambles to try and hold onto the semblance of the normal life she once held. The threat of being exposed as a goddess looms over her as doubt is sown into her heart when dark aspects of Hades’ past become known. When Persephone experiences a horrible tragedy and Hades is unable to help, she enters into dangerous bargains that threaten their relationship.

Can she really become queen to the God of the Dead?

My Thoughts

This second installment of the Hades x Persephone series offers many twists and turns. You get tantalizing glimpses into Hades past that illuminate more about his character. I enjoyed the further development of Persephone in this book and appreciated the slow build of the action. Once again, I found myself unable to put it down! My only complaint is a story aspect that felt randomly thrown at the end but I thoroughly enjoyed the book overall.

Overall Impression

A Touch of Ruin was a satisfying continuation to the Hades x Persephone story. The development of their relationship felt more realistic to me in terms of common couple issues. There were some elements of the storyline that may be triggering to some readers so I will say be mindful. I recommend this novel for those looking to enjoy a romance with nuances that are more realistic in difficulties couples face but also has the fun of magic.
