Book Review| Marie Kondo’s Kurashi at Home by Marie Kondo
I have read Marie Kondo’s other titles in her Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up series and was inspired to organize and rethink my borderline hoarding ways each time I read a title. This new book offered a way to reevaluate how a home can be a source of joy and enhance your life. I was eager to read it in order to make positive change in my life.
What’s it About?
In Marie Kondo’s Kurashi at Home, Marie Kondo guides you to question what sparks joy in your environment. Through the Japanese concept of kursashi or “way of life,” personal anecdotes, and inspiring beautiful images of her personal home Kondo inspires you to curate and transform your home into your ideal personal sanctuary.
My Thoughts
I enjoyed this book in its ability to make you rethink what a home can become in your life. Kondo’s lovely pictures serve as inspiration and her examples make you see the task of creating your space as manageable rather than impossible. The surprise recipes she sprinkled throughout the book were a real treat and the ideal lifestyle worksheets at the end were such a great resource. They help you tackle time management and planning with joy in mind rather than utility.
The only drawback I would say is, some passages make reference to her past books only briefly. I am not sure if those who have not read the other titles would be able to fully appreciate this latest piece.
Overall Impression
This book had some nice tips and insights on tackling making your home a true refuge. If you are looking for a system meant to guide your organization and home design, look no further. This book gives you a new way to view your home and tackle your ideal of life. A perfect choice for those looking for a fresh start.
