This book was offered as a part of the March Together We Read USA selection. It is a program offered by libraries where an ebook or audiobook is offered with no waits or holds and a discussion is opened for a nationwide digital book club. I was excited to be a part of such a big collective read and dove into this novel quickly.
What’s It About?
Eva Moon is a struggling with artist’s block. Lately she has been haunted by ghosts of her past. And when her husband is believed to be the murderer of a family friend, things get even more complicated.
My Thoughts
The plot development was well paced and this author is great at building tension and an eerie atmosphere. At times I would get so frustrated with the protagonist’s actions but I took it as a sign of great writing to have a character you don’t exactly love be the star but you still stay to complete the story. I was kept wondering what the truth was until the very end. I enjoyed the elements of native witchcraft interspersed throughout along with some recipes for spells.
Overall Impression
Definitely recommend this as a good Halloween mystery read and for fans of witchcraft and suspense.
